CRD Presentation at "Arakadz" Lodge of
Knights of Vartan
On the evening of March 19, 2002, Joe Dagdigian presented a brief overview of Armenian science and Armenia's Cosmic Ray Division (CRD) before members and prospective members of the "Arakadz" Lodge of the Knights of Vartan. The illustrated presentation took place after a delicious Lenten meal prepared by the Daughters of Vartan at the Holy Cross Armenian Church in Lawrence, MA. Knight's member Mr. Jack Medzorian, who is also an executive of the Cambridge Yerevan Sister City Association (CYSCA), discussed some exchange programs being conducted by the CYSCA. Mr. Harry Alexanian then introduced Joe Dagdigian, a member of the Support Committee for Armenia's Cosmic Ray Division. Joe described some aspects of ancient scientific and engineering achievements in Armenia, showed photographs of engineering and science related sites, and finished with photos of the Cosmic Ray Division's (CRD) facilities. He also discussed the CRD's achievements and the difficult challenges which remain. Recent press articles and other printed material about the CRD was distributed to the approximately 40 attendees. The talk concluded with the observation that we must preserve Armenia's treasures, and our most valuable treasures are our talented people in Armenia, and 100 of them work for the CRD in Armenia conducting world class science. After the presentation, before the business part of the meeting began,
a photograph of CRD's Aragats research station, situated atop Armenia's
Mt. Aragats, was presented to the Knights of Vartan "Arakadz"
Lodge. |
